Audition Information

MLOC Production Inc., creative team are seeking performers from all backgrounds, including First Nations People, People of Colour, culturally and linguistically diverse actors as well as people of any gender, body type and ability to audition for ‘My Fair Lady’. 

THE SHOW

‘My Fair Lady’ is a musical based on George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play ‘Pygmalion’, with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The story concerns Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from professor Henry Higgins, a phonetician, so that she may pass as a lady.

CHARACTERS

LEAD ROLE VOCAL AUDITION

If you are auditioning for a lead role, please prepare the appropriate selections for that character.  Read carefully the Audition Pack, as some selections are used for more than one character.

ENSEMBLE AUDITION

If you are auditioning for the ensemble, please learn: ‘Get me to the Church on Time’.  Use the music provided to learn the correct portion.  You must audition in the correct key.

Your audition will go for approximately 15 minutes.  Please bring your CV and a headshot to the audition.

No props are to be used in your audition.

Please bring the completed Audition form and the signed Privacy Statement and show agreement as well.

Rehearsals will be held at The Uniting Church Hall, 184 Old Dandenong Road, Heatherton on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

A Rehearsal Schedule will be emailed out to all cast members by the middle of December 2021, If there are any issues with rehearsal dates, cast members are requested to email either Maryanne or Debbie –My Fair Lady’s Production Managers.

COVID Safe Information

In order to keep our auditions COVID Safe, please note the following precautions:

All Auditionees will need to check in via a QR code on arrival.

Parents/guardians will not be permitted past the sign- in area; however, will be able to wait outside (weather permitting) while any person under 18years old auditions. In the event of inclement weather, parents/guardians are asked to wait in their car.

At the time of writing, masks are required for any one aged 12 and over (unless an exemption applies) who attend the audition venue.

Recording of Auditions

Please note: Auditions will be recorded for the production team to review if required.  All recordings will be deleted after casting is completed.

Closed Auditions

All auditions for ‘My Fair Lady” are closed.  The only people permitted in the audition room are the production team and Auditionees.

Membership and Show fees

All cast members are required to become a financial member of MLOC Production Inc. at a cost of $45.00 A/$40.00 C and pay a show fee of $105.00    

Totalling  $150.00A or $145.00C

Show fees include a Production Tee Shirt

Membership includes a MLOC lanyard

All payments are due at the meet and greet rehearsal unless otherwise arranged.  EFT banking details will be made available to the cast.

What if there’s another COVID outbreak/lockdown?

Obviously, we really hope this does not happen, however, we shall be following  all the latest guidance from the Victorian Government and Victoria Health Dept.  All cast will be updated when/if an outbreak or lockdown occurs.
